For Fall/Winter 2017, Happy Socks main collection is a playful reflection of the passionate spirit, and the people who carry it. Their passion is an inspiration to us, and now we want to pay tribute to their unwavering determination to take the road less traveled.
Meet Quentin “Shplinton” Thomas, a creative spirit, artist and collector of inspiration.
“Never stop exploring”
Artist Quentin “Shplinton” Thomas has been creating for as long as he can remember: “I love everything about creating. The act of creation itself; you can just never tell when you start how it will turn out.” Quentin’s passion started when he was young. He doodled in class, drawing characters from TV shows like Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and Dragon Ball Z. But today, his work is not really private.
Sitting somewhere between abstract expressionism and surf culture, his pieces have been exhibited in galleries and museums all over the L.A. and Inland Empire areas. Like us at Happy Socks he is an avid gatherer of inspiration, constantly drawing influence from the world around him. Most of his works are created with watercolor, gouache or ink, but sometimes with acrylic and spray paint.
Create what you love, love what you create
His passion for what he does is instantly clear in his vivid, colorful artwork. He believes that this passion should be at the heart of everything we do, and that we should never cease to be curious: “Never stop exploring. I think that applies to any kind of creative practice. In fact, it applies to everything in general!”
Quentin's passion and dedication to his art, is why we choose him as a passionate spirit.
